Perfect for lockdown leg day, this at home leg workout will have you working those legs to the max. It will also get the heart rate up too, so will give you a good overall cardio workout too.
This workout requires no specific fitness equipment, but does take advantage of some household furniture!
Remember to warm yourself up fully before this workout. When warming up, focus on those hamstrings, quads and hip flexors.
The Workout:
Perform each exercise for 50 seconds, then take 10 seconds rest before moving to the next exercise.
Ex 1:
Air squats – Standing with feet shoulder width apart, squat as low as you can, hold for 2 seconds and then come back up.
Ex 2:
Calf raises – Standing with feet slightly closer than shoulder width, raise heels to come up on tip-toes. Lower back to ground. For added paid try doing it with your heels off the edge of a step or stair. Lower the heel back to below the edge and then come up on tip-toes.
Ex 3:
Star jumps – Proper star jumps on this one. Crouch down tight in a squat like stance, feet close together. Then explode up into a star shape, jumping as high as you can. This will burn your thighs!
Ex 4:
Elevated hip raise – With your heels on the arm of the sofa (if too high try the seat of sofa or a bed), raise your bum and torso off the ground. Tighten those glutes and your core as you do this to really feel the burn. You should feel it in your hamstrings.
Ex 5:
Jumping lunges – One leg in front of the other lower down and then explode back up and swap legs. If you can’t manage the jump just do alternating lunges.
Ex 6:
Squat jumps – Drop into a squat and then explode up as high as possible.
Ex 7:
Duck walks – Lower down as low as you can go, hands on the back of your head and walk like a duck. This will make those tired legs burn.
Repeat!
Perform the full set of exercises through 3 times.
